March is Women’s History Month and we are celebrating by shining a light on some fantastic FWHS female leaders who make a positive impact on campus.

Why is it important to get involved and make a difference in high school?

Flowing Wells having so many electives & clubs gives us a very big opportunity to be a part of a community. Whether you join one or more, you meet new people, make new memories, and have new relations with the world. Walking around campus and seeing multiple people I know each day greet me with a smile or a hi makes my day, which is the main reason why I keep myself involved. I know that when I´m having a bad day I always look forward to seeing my teammates or dance girls. Being involved is super important not only for the future but for yourself; you build yourself a support system that may one day turn into family. 

Who is a mentor or role model who inspire you & why?

Growing up I didn't always have the best childhood but my sisters were always making sure I had a smile on my face no matter the circumstances. My family doesn't really talk about our feelings or emotions, it's just the way we grew up. However, they make it known they're always there for me. Looking back, my sisters are one of the few strong people I know. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world and I know that if someone else were in their shoes they wouldn't be able to do what my sisters do. Daisy and Fatima are definitely part of my motivation, they keep me going and they inspire me to keep striving for my dreams no matter the obstacles that come my way.

If you knew me better you’d know…

you can always count on me. I may be quiet at first but once you spend time with me and get to know me it's hard to get rid of me. If you are having a bad day I'll be here to make sure you go home with a smile. I'll be a safe space for anyone who needs it.

What are your dreams for your future?

My future consists of happiness. I want to be able to wake up happy and excited ready to start my day and ready to work. I want to be a forensic psychologist or an OBGYN. Psychology is intriguing to me. However, I think being able to help women and their journey with a human inside of them is exciting.
What is the bravest thing you have ever done?

The bravest thing I've done would be challenging myself out of my comfort zone. Especially freshman year which is scary. Freshman year is a big transition from middle school to high school so joining dance and trying out for girls' varsity soccer was a big step for me. Knowing I would have to perform in front of people was scary but it has led me to many possibilities and opportunities such as being co-captain of Momentum and performing at the U of A Festival of Books, and McKale center.

What do you love about Flowing Wells?

The thing I love about Flowing Wells is the diversity it has and the opportunities it brings to each student. I love the countless programs which build up an environment we can all thrive in. The new football field is one of my favorite places. A place where I've created many memories and friends since freshman year. And hopefully to others as well.

Who has been the most influential teacher in your career and why?

The most influential teacher in my career has been Ariana Brown. Ms. Brown has become like a friend to me, out of all my school years she's been someone who has made not only me but other students safe and welcomed into the dance program and the Flowing Wells community. She knows how to help us through hardships even if we don´t directly tell her. She always welcomes us with open arms yet she pushes us to our limits because she knows we can achieve so much more than we think we can. She always has our best interest at heart.
How long have you attended Flowing Wells?

I've been at Flowing Wells since kindergarten.

What legacy do you want to leave here at Flowing Wells?

Being a senior and leaving behind friendships, I hope they continue to do what they love and care about. Even if it gets tough I hope they continue to smile and treat each other with kindness. I know a lot of girls look up to my teammates or my dance team, so even if we´re gone they continue to be inspired and build their own legacy.
